ADULT BASIC CRUISING:
Welcome to our Adult Basic Cruising sessions. We look forward to helping you get closer to your cruising or sailing dreams.
We follow a modified ‘Sail Canada’ curriculum and teach safety, navigation and boat-handling skills. You will learn to ‘day sail’ in moderate wind and sea conditions.
Your experience is delivered by Sail Canada certified cruising instructors and limited to a max of 4 students per instructor. This hands-on course will prepare you to safely captain with a small crew in your boat or a Club boat. You’ll learn fundamental skills and theory comparable to a Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard. These skills include but are not limited to:
- Boat handling under sail & power
- Terminology
- Safety equipment and procedures
- Understanding weather
- Basic navigation and chart work
- Anchoring and docking under power
- Reefing
- Knots
- Rules of the road
- Crew-Overboard procedures
